About
the artist
Kuntal Mondal is an artist based in Howrah, West Bengal, whose practice moves between the human figure, domestic space, still life, animals and imagined encounter.
His pictures are direct in construction yet emotionally open-ended. Flattened colour, simplified form and compressed space turn everyday motifs into scenes of intimacy, humour, solitude and unease.
Across the archive, plants, furniture, solitary figures, paired bodies and animals recur as visual anchors. Observation and invention meet without insisting on a single fixed reading.
